Illuminates Enterprise Scheduling in the Context of the Entire Operation
The Management Pack for Enterprise Scheduling is designed to be used with
System Center Operations Manager 2007 to give the operations staff a complete picture of the
current state of their environment. This enables them to provide both the users and lines of
business high performance and consistently meet service levels. Tidal’s System Center Operations
Manager 2007 Management Pack for Enterprise Scheduling lets the staff know the state of the
scheduler environment. This management pack also gives the staff more direct control over their
scheduling environment and business processes driven by the scheduler.
Tidal Enterprise Scheduler customers manage enterprise schedules across diverse
platforms and applications, and already have a holistic view of their enterprise jobs. With a
comprehensive view and greater control of the scheduling environment from within System Center Operations Manager
2007, these customers can take yet another big step toward end-to-end IT service management.
The task of keeping Tidal Enterprise Scheduler and all of the elements in the
data center that are connected to the scheduler working to achieve the highest service levels
becomes easier with the installation of this management pack. Within a day of installing the
management pack, users can see the health of the scheduler, database, agents, and the jobs that
are running the business processes, all in the familiar console of Microsoft System Center
Operations Manager 2007.
Increases Proactive Management with Critical Control of Job Processing
Through System Center Operations Manager 2007’s service model definition
and configuration you can manage business processes. Once the management pack is installed
into the System Center Operations Manager 2007 environment, users can see System Center
Operations Manager 2007’s health model maps and see all the core and extended components of
the scheduling environment. Information on the scheduler, database, and associated agents is
readily visible and available for monitoring and service level management. Users also see jobs
that have issues or that require operator intervention. The System Center Operations Manager Operations management pack can aggregate
this, covering all of the enterprise’s scheduler instances in a large installation.
All of the job schedule and performance information available through System
Center Operations Manager 2007 supports problem management through standard processes used by
administration teams. Having a single place for all metrics allows the operations staff to better
manage resource utilization enabling higher service levels and proactive capacity management.
Provides Better Visibility and Control through Rich Health Model
Once the management pack is installed, System Center Operations Manager 2007
autodetects Tidal Enterprise Scheduler Masters and agents running on Windows. Then it creates the
health model (see diagram). Once this is set up, it then monitors: basic service states, master
system events and job failures.
System Center Operations Manager users can view the state of entire scheduler master groups to
check for such things as database connection status. Users can have this high level view as well
as the detailed job level views.
Puts Broad Coverage of Enterprise Scheduling Information into System Center Operations Manager 2007
This management pack provides System Center Operations Manager 2007 users a
single point of access to a wide range of information about the performance of schedules, the
systems they touch, and the business processes they control. The scope of this coverage includes:
- creation of a core health model and views to provide a framework for understanding scheduling issues
- monitoring of core health to understand overall health and performance
- specific content monitoring for job activity
- staff control over content-centric tasks such as the ability to restart failed jobs, set job status, and release held jobs
- performance monitoring of the number of jobs on an agent or an adapter
- performance monitoring of masters and agents
- monitoring of the associated Windows systems and SQLServer database
Scheduler job information is easily accessed directly through System Center Operations Manager. The job rule state provides a
detailed view of job rule health. This allows for close monitoring. Users can view active job alerts
through System Center Operations Manager and verify such facts as a successful completion and job release, which makes it easy
to address issues quickly.
