If your business requires an enterprise-wide, heterogeneous automation
solution that supports mission-critical MS SQL 2000 and 2005 databases,
TidalTM Enterprise Scheduler Adapter for MS SQL is the right choice. This
powerful combination brings the reliability and flexibility of Tidal
SoftwareTM’s world-class enterprise automation and management solution to
this leading database platform. At last, you can maximize throughput and
minimize the time consumed by MS SQL jobs whether maintenance-related or
driven from within MS SQL or other parts of your enterprise.
Tidal Enterprise Scheduler Adapter for Microsoft SQL enables you to automate
scheduling of SQL jobs, whether they are new or existing database jobs. Your
MS SQL jobs can now be part of larger business process workflows managed
from a single console. Dependencies within workflows can now encompass
events across the enterprise or outside it. In addition, users can quickly
and easily pass variables to and from MS SQL jobs. As a result, your
company’s application automation and management activities can be
consolidated under one solution, reducing unnecessary effort, and expense
while increasing staff productivity.
How Tidal Enterprise Scheduler Adapter for MS SQL Works
The Enterprise Scheduler Adapter for MS SQL offers options that meet your
special requirements—without requiring scripting, manual intervention, or
changes to your MS SQL database and configuration parameters. Once the
Adapter is configured, you can define and maintain the details of MS SQL
jobs and schedule tasks from within Tidal Enterprise Scheduler. Enterprise
Scheduler can also launch and monitor jobs already defined in MS SQL. This
heterogeneous automation solution provides detailed control of MS SQL jobs
through extensive alerts about job abnormalities, resource availability, or
machine functioning. It also provides real-time status information from a
single console; load balancing; and the ability to interact with current and
future jobs.
Defining and Running MS SQL Jobs
Tidal Enterprise Scheduler offers flexibility in defining and running MS SQL
database jobs. You can specify T-SQL statements directly in the job
definition panel of its console, or alternatively, you can run DBMS jobs by
selecting from those that have already been defined under the SQL server
agent, including DMO and DTS jobs. In addition, Enterprise Scheduler offers
different options for displaying job output, including aligned columns and
XML options.
Enterprise Scheduler also makes it possible to run a set of SQL statements
against your data, allowing you to select specific data or modify data prior
to executing a job.
Defining and Running MS SQL Database Events
Tidal Enterprise Scheduler Adapter for MS SQL simplifies processing database
events and does not require the use of database triggers. MS SQL database
events include the ability to capture and respond to activities such as
table modification, index creation, or database row activity. The complete
range of Enterprise Scheduler functions also enables any database event to
drive the workflow that transforms your business processes into
administrative action—efficiently and automatically.
Through the Enterprise Scheduler Event Activity folder, you can view all
current database events, enabling you to create and support event-based job
dependencies quickly and efficiently. You can also easily pass variables
from Enterprise Scheduler to an MS SQL database job, making it possible to
rapidly initiate an MS SQL job based on an external event such as the
arrival of a file from a trading partner.
Tidal Enterprise Scheduler with the Adapter for MS SQL ensures that you can
deliver maximum throughput, minimum processing time, and rock-solid
reliability for your Microsoft-centric workload. This powerful duo
accomplishes these objectives by providing a single integrated enterprise
job scheduler that balances the service requirements of all your batch
workloads whether they were created from within MS SQL or exist in support
of other applications and technologies within your business.
